Monday 15 to Monday 22 March
SEX IN THE CITY: THE EROTIC WORLD OF ANCIENT THEBES

Day 1: Monday 15 March
- Arrival in Luxor (participants are responsible for their travel to Luxor. See the information below*)
- Private transfer from Luxor International Airport
- Check into Steigenberger Achti Resort for 7 nights

Day 2: Tuesday 16 March
- Lecture 1: Looking for Sex: The historiography of the sex lives of the Egyptians
- Site visit: Looking for sex at Karnak Temple (with special focus on the Open Air Museum)
- Group lunch at local restaurant
- Lecture 2: The Rise of the Phallus
- Welcome Dinner at the hotel
Day 3: Wednesday 17 March
- Site visit: Temple of Mut at Karnak
- Group lunch at local restaurant
- Lecture 3: Fertility Goddesses
- Lecture 4: Mut: The Great Mother and the Festival of Drunkenness
- Late afternoon excursion: Temple of Luxor (with focus on the birth scenes of Amenhotep III)
Day 4: Thursday 18 March
- Site visit: Tombs of Rekhmire (TT100); Userhat (TT56); Khaemhet (TT57); Menna (TT 69); Nakht (TT52); Huy (TT 40)
- Group lunch at local restaurant
- Lecture 5: Cracking the Code: Eroticism in Egyptian tomb painting
- Lecture 6: Beauty and the Body
Day 5: Friday 19 March
- Site visits: Malqata (SPECIAL OPENING), Medinet Habu including the 'harem' situationed in upper floor of the Syrian Gate (SPECIAL OPENING), Ramesseum
- Group lunch at local restaurant
- Lecture 7: The Royal Harem
- Lecture 8: Malkata: A Theban pleasure palace
Day 6: Saturday 20 March
- Site visit: Full day trip to Abydos and on to Dendera
- Packed lunch
Day 7: Sunday 21 March
- Site visits: Deir el-Medina including Temple of Hathor, various artists’ tombs, Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut (especially the birth scenes on the upper terrace)
- Group lunch at local restaurant
- Lecture 9: Sex in Literature: Fables, Wisdom Texts, and Love Songs
- Lecture 10: The Sexy Adventures of Paneb
- Final wrap up: All You Wanted to Know About Sex but were Afraid to Ask – a Q&A session
- Farewell Dinner at hotel
Day 8: Monday 22 March
- Private transfer to airport for return flights*
